Cube — Larusmiani

Design

Ora Ito glorifies the silverware expertise of Aldo Lorenzi, the most recent to join the Larusmiani family, his first collaboration with the luxury Italian brand Larusmiani.

It was a natural choice to approach one of the finest designers of his generation to firmly establish Aldo Lorenzi within the territory of the contemporary company. A new chapter begins for Aldo Lorenzi providing us with his expertise. Together we will construct a range of items for domestic use and accessories for the forward-looking firm blessed with this exceptional silversmith’s talent as their blueprint. We have chosen Ora Ito to pass on this heritage to future generations. His transversal approach to form and function is unique and fully complementary to our philosophy,’ explains Guglielmo Miani, CEO of Larusmiani.

Ora Ito has designed Cube, a 3D alphabet comprising 26 forms/functions each marked with a letter from A to Z.

This fun system incorporates a series of trays and containers in a range of different shapes and sizes. Cube is a construction set in space, a puzzle with infinite combinations enabling the spirit and expertise of the Lorenzi name to be employed. 26 functions according to requirements: ashtray, vase, jewellery box, trays, etc.

This project is the fruit of a double encounter. First of all with my friend Guglielmo Miani, then with the legacy of Aldo Lorenzi, one of the greatest artisans in the luxury good arena in Italy. I wanted to break down Lorenzi’s vocabulary to create a connecting alphabet. A contemporary language with letters steeped in tradition,’ sums up the designer.

Available in brass for the Milan furniture fair, Cube is a limited edition of 100. It will be unveiled at via Monte Napoleone 7, in the window display of the historical shop of the Milan tailor, specialising in made-to-measure for 90 years.
