Moscow design week

Moscou, Russie, October 2012 — The designer Ora-Ito is going to visit Moscow once more so as to prepare something special for MDW again. This year, the designer will present the project Cafe SAVVINSKAYA 23 named after the center of modern design, where it will be located. Its opening is scheduled for November 2012. However, the visitors of MDW have a chance to see the prototype of the bar a month earlier. The art object is featured by flexibility of lines and futuristic shapes, so typical for the author. Bright color magnetize a viewer and doesn’t let him off, causing thoughts about extraterrestrial civilizations and their slow penetration into our reality.

From 11 to 16 of October Moscow Design Week 2011 took place in Moscow, proving its status of the most important design event in Russia in its widest sense: from graphic, interior and fashion design to industrial and architectural design. Almost 400,000 people visited over 10 sites of MDW: students, designers, architects, buyers, celebrities, representatives of Russian and foreign press, invited guests, those who registered at the website of Moscow Design Week, and simply who has passion for design. Last year Art Trading Group, an organizer of MDW, made a bold initiative to hold the first Moscow Design Week with the aim of establishment of cultural and economic platform and favorable environment for development of design in Russia. Moscow Design Week 2011 became a key even in the world of design taking an honored place on a calender of international Design Weeks, which take place in Paris, Milan, Copenhagen, Eindhoven, Tokio, London and other cities of the world. “This year we managed to present a unique content. Perhaps, none of Design Week of the world can boast such a territorial scope and a number of authoritative, prominent names and remarkable installations. Moscow Design Week is not only the most significant, but also the only cultural and educational event, really international festival of design” – commented Alexander Fedotov, the Chairman of the Board of Directors of Art Trading Group and the President of organizing committee of MDW. “Adopting a scale of thoughts of such great people like Luigi Colani, we start to learn and cognize beauty in design, and, I dare to hope, we give opportunity for learning to those who visited Moscow Design week this year” – added Alexander. This year organizers of Moscow Design Week presented the following projects: Design Superheroes, Mutants
Architecture & Design, Organic Dwelling: biomimicry in design & architecture by Li Edelcoort, Bio Design Codex by Luigi Colani, MADE IN ITALY by Giulio Cappellini, project of Elena Akimova, People of Design, and of course, french designer, Ora-Ito.
